315 - Improper or Missing Plates/Registration

  • All motor vehicles must have a visible and valid (registered) license plate on the rear of a motor vehicle when operating or parked/stopped on a public road.

  • License plates may not be obstructed or obfuscated in any way.

  • License plates must match the VIN and motor vehicle make/model which they are attached to.

  • Front license plates are optional.

  • Government exempt plates are only permitted for vehicles owned and operated by the government.

  • Temporary "dealer" / "paper" plates, or blank plates are not permitted for private or commercial use.

  • Only State issued plates may be used on any roadway.

  • The plate mounted shall match the registered state for the vehicle.

  • Newly Purchased Vehicles must be registered to the actual owner of the vehicle prior to being used on a roadway.

EXEMPTIONS

  • Farm and Logging use vehicles:

    • Such a farm or logging vehicle may be driven upon roadways only from sunrise to sunset and between such farm or farms and a place of business located within a radius of 50 miles from such farm or farms for the purpose of buying or selling agricultural commodities or supplies or for the purpose of repairing or servicing of the farm vehicle or the trailer or semitrailer being towed or hauled by the farm vehicle.
